Items from the past

I have been trying to take pictures of items that I grew up with that are no longer around.
Someday the future generations may like to see a picture of items that we once used but now are obsolete. To think these items may even be condsidered "antiques"!!!

Can you believe that when I was growing up this was the only way I could call to get help, or to check in with home. I don't remember using it to talk to friends.

This was the type of TV I remember having at home. The knobs are no longer on this one, but I do remember having to turn the channels. No remote (except for us children) & we only had about 5-6 channels!!

I don't have any of my 45's So I am glad I got this picture when we visited Sun Records Studio in Memphis, TN.
This is what I actually played my records on!! I don't believe you can even get parts for these "Stereos" anymore. I remember my first record was by Shaun Cassidy - "Do Run Run".
I have my cassettes packed away somewhere. Ole the good OLE DAYS!!
Does any of these items bring back any memorys? Can you remember what your first Record was? Please stroll down memory lane with me, and if you want to post any of your "antiques" leave me a comment and I will be sure to come by and check them out - We can stroll together!!

Oh the pay phone! That's what we did before cell phones!

I have to admit that I didn't have any records..I came from the era of cassette tapes. My dad however, had many. In fact we had a player much like the one pictured.

I can't tell you how long it's been since I used a pay phone; I remember when they were 10 cents!

What a fun post and great idea! I do remember the t.v. that I had to get off the couch to turn the channel~! And I had a big crush on Shaun Cassidy too! I keep trying to remember my 1st record....I think it was Al Stewart!

Hubby and I were just talking about tv consoles with pliers being used to change channels when the knobs broke; I bought 45s with my allowance, spent many an hour deciding what I would buy first, I started out listing to mom and dad's Elvis, Roy Orbison, and movie music. Hard to believe we 'survived' not carrying a phone in our pocket everyday. Now people think they have to have one all the time.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane:)

I remember 45's with those crazy inserts to make it fit on the stereo.

As far as Photo Hunt, you can post early and I've seen several who do but you can't leave a message on the Photo Hunt Post until after 2:00 am CST. Go ahead and post.

I know! The crazy thing to me is digital cameras. You take a picture these days and the kid wants to see it right away!

I used a payphone the other week bc I had lost my cellphone. 50 cents!!!! I couldn't believe it!

What a great idea this is. Yes I remember them all. And my first record was Michael Jackson's Ben. Followed closely by the Bee Gees. Oh dear! And do you recall what the early mobile phones looked like, huge and clunky things that they were!
